Owlacombe Topic Launch
On the 4th of January, Owlacombe started their new topic Extreme Earth. We focussed on the charity Shelterbox and the work they do around the world to help communities struggling to survive after a natural disaster e.g an earthquake or flooding. Our first challenge was choosing the ten most useful items to pack into a shelterbox to send to an earthquake disaster in Mozambique. Our second challenge was to get everything ready to travel to an earthquake disaster in Pakistan e.g passport, visa, vaccination etc. Trying to get it all ready in a limited timescale was a very stressful process for our team. Edward, Sami, Eli and Dylan were the winning team but still ran seven minutes over time. In reality this might have meant that we had missed our flight. It was an extremely fun way to start the term, and we now have a better understanding of all the good work that Shelterbox do. By Edward Schramm YR6.
