Remembrance in Owlacombe
Children in Owlacombe have been history detectives this week with a trip to St.Michael's Church to see the names of the men of the village who gave their lives for their country and died in WW1 and WW2. They had a close look at the war grave belonging to A.Joint who died on 5th Oct 1918 aged 24. Through their research they discovered his first name was Alfred and he was born in Ilsington and died of his wounds having fought in France & Flanders. Finding out more about Alfred helped them to understand the importance of Remembrance Day.
